On 16 July Yuri Phillipov's personal exhibition was opened in the Headquarters
Building of AVTOVAZ. Yuri Phillipov has a lot of titles: a member of the Artists'
League of Russia, the Honored Artist of Russia, a professor of Samara Pedagogical
University, a member of the International Association of Fine Arts (UNESCO).
The artist calls this exhibition a gift to AVTOVAZ 35th anniversary. Yuri Phillipov
participated in laying the foundation to symbolize the beginning of VAZ construction.
He was also the leader of the group of artists, who created AVTOVAZ chronicle.
Paying frequent visits to AVTOVAZ construction site and being a guest in the
factory work shops, Yuri Phillipov has created a series of works, dedicated
to AVTOVAZ. These pictures have found their place in the exhibition. On 20 July,
the day, when the government decreed to build a passenger car manufacturing
plant in Togliatti, Yuri Phillipov will present these pictures to AVTOVAZ. They
will be displayed in AVTOVAZ museum and city gallery.
This is not the first time, when artists
show their works at the plant. These events gain popularity, proving that culture
is as important for AVTOVAZ as production one.
During the opening ceremony the artist thanked
VAZ workers for a warm welcome and said:
-
I was lucky to have a chance to work at AVTOVAZ. The first time it was 35 years
ago and I still have a feeling of excitement.
