On 24th August International Moscow Show was opened. More than 600 companies
from 27 countries participate in the "Autosalon-2001", which may be called the
most pretending for its 5-year history. The diversity of the exposed production
is really impressive - the exhibition displays the latest passenger and commercial
vehicles, as well as spare parts, accessories and equipment for garages and
service stations. Such famous automotive companies as Mercedes, BMW, Volkswagen
and Ford take part in this exhibition.
AVTOVAZ exhibition is the biggest one. 31 models
are exposed to public. This is "Lada-110" Car line, including four-wheel drive
"Lada-111" (estate car), improved "Lada-110M" and armored "Lada-108" - these
models are exposed for the first time. The exposition also includes "Niva" line
(Lada-2131M, Lada-2329, Lada-2131-05, Lada-21214 and armored "Lada-Force-V.I.P");
Lada-115; "Lada-Oka" for disabled people; mini van "Lada-2120" and "Lada-2120
Taxi" and many other models. As "cars of tomorrow" there is new "Niva" (Lada-2123)
car line. In addition to "Lada-118" and "Lada-119" cars of "Kalina" family an
estate car "Lada-117" is displayed. AVTOVAZ also shows specialized vehicles.
As a concept-car "Riksha-Electro" debuts.
The main model of AVTOVAZ exhibition
is environmentally friendly "Lada-Antel", which works on oxygen-hydrogen fuel
cells.
On 24th August Avtovaz top-managers held
a press-conference. The accent was put on Joint Venture with General Motors
and "Chevy-Niva" production. Much attention also was paid to relations with
Russian government.
