AVTOVAZ plans to increase its export figures in Latin American countries. On 29th December, 2001 Russian largest car maker concluded an agreement with Uruguay Company "RUSIA AUTOMOTRIZ S.A.". According to that agreement, AVTOVAZ famous off-road car "NIVA-21214" will be assembled at "OFEROL" factory in Montevideo. For the time being "OFEROL" assembles CITROšN cars.
     In comply with the agreement, "RUSIA AUTOMOTRIZ S.A." plans to produce more than 2,000 "NIVA" cars in 2002. Automobiles will be sold in Chili, Argentina, Brasilia, Uruguay and Paraguay. AVTOVAZ cars, assembled in Uruguay, will be equipped with modern "PEUGEOT" diesel engine.
